I get the feeling, whatever crimes he’s done will come to light. He also gives off a dark narcissist vibe. The fact he was friends with Masterson and defended him leaves a poor taste in my mouth. His other friend Wilmer Valderrama loves jailbait girls. Overall the people you surround yourself with, says a lot about your character

R1, they were co-workers for years. Did he really have an option but to be surrounded by them?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 15, 2023 8:14 PM |
R2 They remained friends well after That 70s Show ended in 2006. Also Topher Grace wasn’t close to any of the cast members and he went home after work. I understand coworkers don’t mean friends but Ashton, Wilmer and Danny along with Laura and Mila remained close after the show ended. Danny and Laura got into Scientology as well which is a cult that is infamous for sex trafficking and child sex abuse. Yet Ashton still remained friends with them despite being a spokesperson for an anti-CSA organization.

I've always liked him. Re: Mila, she is more of a mixed bag. There is, however, a hilarious interview floating around on the internet where Mila is asked re: her Ukrainian heritage (years before the war) and she gives the cuntiest answers ever. To be fair, I think she was pregnant at the time.

As an actor, he’s definitely suited for raunchy sitcoms or dudebro sex comedies. Surprisingly he’s not an idiot and is smart but he seems so arrogant and full of himself. Granted he’s not the only one in the industry but his talent doesn’t match his ego. I can commend him on his activism and tech investments but his blind defense of Masterson makes him seem like a hypocrite and also uneducated in how the courts work. Your letter means shit when the evidence is there. He should have kept his mouth shut and not even tried to bail his buddy out like that

Jesus, they wrote a letter after the conviction asking for leniency. Letters like this are written al the time. They didn't ask the court not to sentence Masterson.

Danny and his siblings are second-generation Scienos. Laura dated Danny's brother Chris years ago. Danny and Chris reeled her into Scientology.

by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 15, 2023 11:31 PM |
I think it was on Free Katie or another anti-Scieno message board where ex-Scienos had the theory that some actors were secret members of COS.
I fell into the Scientology rabbit hole in 2009 after I house-sat for my cousin and her husband. They told me to feel free to read anything from their bookshelf. They had a copy of Nancy Many's book My Billion Year Contract. Before that, I didn't know much about Scientology. After reading that book, I started to read different anti-Scientology sites and I later read other books like Janet Reitman's book Inside Scientology, Blown for Good by Marc Headler, Going Clear etc. I remember Reitman's book mentioned that COS did try to get actors in, but some didn't take the bait.
Last year, my employer contracted a woman to do consulting work with us on a project. I work remotely and would have daily video meetings with this woman. One day, the topic of Scientology came up and she told me about how in the early 90s, she and her husband lived in LA in the early 90s because he attended UCLA law school. She was as a social worker at a drug rehab facility. She said the Scienos used to target her workplace by leaving flyers for Narconon and COS on cars near the street and in the parking lot. She and her husband left LA after he graduated from law school. They kept in touch with former neighbors, co-workers, classmates, etc. They would go back every few years to visit friends and she said in the early 2000s, one of her husband's law school classmates had joined Scientology and the guy cut ties with them and other people in their circle.

R18 Scientology also crept their ways into California public schools during the 1970s when they that New Age stuff was popular in part of school reforms. Darby Crash, the gay punk rocker attended a Scientology affiliated type of magnet school in Los Angeles where he grew up. Scientology uses self-help spiritual healing to hook in unhappy people. California and the Southwest was full of New Age cults run by grifter narcissists. They do target celebrities because that’s the best endorsement. Celebrities are very unhappy so many do fall into cults as they are people too. Intelligent people even can join cults too. Since poor people look up to celebrities especially so more likely to be swayed to Scientology.

R23: Debra Jo & Kurtwood have been getting dragged on Twitter (especially by fans of That '70s Show) since it was revealed that they wrote letters, too. Obviously, not to the extent that Ashton & Mila are getting dragged, because they aren't nearly as famous & visible -- and they weren't on the board of an anti-sex trafficking/victim-support organization. Nor did they make a lamely unapologetic "apology" video, which just added fuel to the fire.

r23 The entire cast have been getting dragged. Including those who didn't write them including Wilma for being a creep for various other reasons, and Laura who to be fair left the cult after breaking up with Danny's brother but before that encouraged some of the victims to shut up. The only one who's come out of this well is Topher Grace who's wife praised the victims for coming forward and whose dislike of the cast from the first episode now makes him seem like the best of the lot. The reason Ashton and Mila got the worst of it is becasue they're the most high profile.

Kutcher is reportedly worth $200.
Kunis is reportedly worth $75 million.

R27: Also coming out of the this situation unscathed: Don Stark, Tommy Chong, Brooke Shields. (and Tanya Roberts & Lisa Robin Kelly, being dead & all)
Of course, as the world's Most Famous Stoner, Tommy probably wasn't asked to write a letter...as all (or many) of the letter-writers harped on the "Danny was anti-drugs & cautioned everyone stay away from people who took drugs!" theme.

Edit: I'm going to "oh dear" myself, about Brooke Sheilds. Upon looking at IMDB, she didn't appear in nearly as many episodes as I thought she had! She only appeared in seven episodes...but it seemed like more than that. Or the character was "around" (but unseen) for a lot longer.

During That '70 Show original run...I bought a t-shirt at the CBS Radford Studio Store (where T7S was filmed) which had a graphic somewhat similar to this (Red), with this exact quote on it! (except it started: "Son, you don't have bad luck") GAWD! I wish I still had it!! I though it was just "funny" then. You know...Haha, Red, dumbass. The irony of it, now -- given Co$'s bullshit/nonsense about how victims bring bad things on themselves -- is utterly delicious!

There is no way they didn't already know and have known for years. The letters were b.s. and even sounded alike. All the ones I've read which are only a few really hit the anti-drug thing which appeared to be a COS stupid ploy to undermine the accusation that he roofied his victims. They know he's trash and they know they're trash.
One tiktoker looked at Ashton's face in his apology video and said the two of them have been shitting themselves since Masterson was convicted, and Ashton's face is someone who has just seen the ghost of Xmas future.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 16, 2023 4:48 PM |

They should have paid the same person who wrote the resignation letter to write the Masterson letter and the subsequent apology video.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 16, 2023 7:06 PM |
Couple thoughts: I don't think they had much choice in what to put in the letter. The letters were ridiculously over the top, made him out to be a paragon of decency, and all hit the same points. All lies.
Kutcher said Masterson helped the 9/11 firefighters but he didn't. He opened a COS therapy or wellness pop up near ground zero but the help was not what the firefighters needed - not medical, not mental - it was actually COS recruitment.
Masterson did a lot for COS and I think in return he thought any female in COS was his to do whatever he wanted. Another story I read was from a guy who guested on whatever show Masterson was on after 70s show. This guy said typically when you are on a show with an established cast you don't really fit it - you do your thing and go, and he gets that, and the only socializing he did was chatting with a member of the crew at one point. He says Masterson saw him, approached him aggressively and said, "Nobody talks to our women."
Not to mention is a lot of people are all like, "Oh but Thorn! It's an anti-trafficking foundation" when it's a Silicon Valley AI program that feeds data about adult sex workers to the police.
Not criminal, but based on Demi Moore's book, Kutcher being caught exiting a famous happy ending massage parlor, and Mila Kunis's pass around experiences on that 70's show, I wonder if their marriage includes threesomes the way it did with Demi.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 16, 2023 9:19 PM |
I believe truly he was asked to tbh and good.
Secondly. I will not give them the benefit of the doubt until they specifically apologize to Danny Masterson's victims. Maybe they have privately but they need to address they believe those specific victims. Publicly.
By putting a blanket apology to all victims of sexual abuse they again dodge the responsibility of clarifying they believe Danny's victims and condemn him for it. I notice they said again they are sorry to victims and people at Thorn. But yeah. Nothing about the people they hurt the most. They HAVE to say they believe Danny's victims.
Which they have not done. Saying we condemn "all sexual abuse" is not it.
The extremely critical and skeptical side of me wonders if they had an ultimatum to publicly condemn Danny or step down and chose to step down and release this bullshit.

Exactly, R46!! However, I'm pretty sure that's NEVER going to happen. You should give a listen to this podcast (from earlier this afternoon) by Aaron Levin of Growing Up in Scientology who has been covering the trial. Ashton hates these women; in his mind, they cost him a boatload of money.
